The Xixuaú initiative is currently progressing within an expansive region that covers 200,000 hectares of lush, thriving tropical forest. This remarkable area is situated in Roraima, along the scenic and beautiful Rio Jauaperi, offering a unique and captivating glimpse into the heart of the Amazon’s natural beauty.
The creation of Associação Amazônia, alongside the dedicated commitment of many forest dwellers, marked the beginning of preservation efforts in the Xixuaú – Xiparinã region. This initiative gained momentum with the essential support of volunteers from across the world, uniting in a mission to conserve and protect this critical area.
This region is now included in the Resex Baixo Rio Branco – Jauaperi, a reserve safeguarded by the Federal State.
The area is rich in biodiversity and hosts countless speciesanimals and plants, some of them in danger of extinction.
For several years, Foreste per Sempre ODV has collaborated with the local community and the Associazione Amazonia onlus both in projects for the protection of the forest and for the sustainable development of the local population with interventions in the fields of education, health and ecotourism.
