Forests Forever is a dedicated volunteer organization that evolved from the Volunteer Ecological Guards of Modena, Italy. Its core mission is to protect and preserve forests, woodlands, and biodiversity, striving to maintain the planet’s delicate balance and improve human life quality. The organization actively engages in various projects aimed at the recovery and conservation of forested areas, along with the creation and maintenance of protected zones. It also leads efforts to safeguard and restore crucial regions vital for the survival of endangered plant and animal species, as identified by the IUCN lists. Additionally, Forests Forever champions campaigns and activities that promote the voluntary implementation of the Kyoto agreements. These initiatives include reducing and/or offsetting greenhouse gas emissions, backed by the issuance of environmental service certificates (CSAs) from conservation and/or reforestation projects.
Biodiversity
Biodiversity refers to the variety and variability of life on Earth, encompassing the differences within species, between species, and of ecosystems.
Payment for Environmental Services
The services offered by forests have multiple aspects and are not limited to the now famous carbon sequestration made known by the Kyoto Protocol and related to the fight against climate change.
Climate Change
Climate change represents one of the most urgent and complex challenges of our time. It refers to significant and lasting variations in the Earth’s climate system, primarily caused by the increase in greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere.
